This seminar provides students with an introduction to the theory of social inequality, established by the French Sociologist Pierre Bourdieu. Through reading and discussion of Bourdieu’s original works as well as secondary materials on his work, the seminar will seek to assimilate Bourdieu’s overall theory of social inequality. From this point, the seminar will proceed to explore its substantial impact on the various fields of social inequality study, today.
